Esta revisão apresenta uma síntese a respeito da plasticidade alimentar em teleósteos de água doce em relação às variações espaço-temporais, ontogenéticas, individuais e comportamentais. A ocorrência de dieta flexível é uma característica marcante da ictiofauna fluvial tropical, onde a maioria das espécies pode mudar de um alimento para outro tão logo ocorram oscilações na abundância relativa do recurso alimentar em uso, motivadas por alterações ambientais espaço-temporais. Quase todas as espécies mudam troficamente durante a ontogenia, e em muitas populações, os indivíduos podem apresentar preferências alimentares ou fazer uso de táticas alimentares distintas, conduzindo a um forrageamento intra-específico diferenciado. The population structure, condition and reproductive period of Astyanax paranae adult individuals inhabiting a small reservoir were investigated. The fishes were quarterly captured from the riverine and lacustrine zones of the Alagados Reservoir, Paraná, Brazil, during 1996/1997 and 1998/1999. The sex ratio differed from 1:1 with the predominance of the females in all standard length classes and total population sample. The females showed higher condition than the males. This study investigated the population parameters, condition and diet of Oligosarcus paranensis at Fiú and Mourão Reservoirs, located in Paraná State, Brazil. The fishes were collected quarterly between 1996/1997 and 1998/1999 using gillnets. Food items were quantified by volumetric method. The specimens at Fiú showed comparatively smaller length and worse condition. Sex ratio was statistically equal to 1:1 at Mourão, whereas there was a significant predominance of males at Fiú. A conserved chromosomal distribution of the As51 satellite, coincident with distal C-banded segments was demonstrated. Foi avaliada a substituição da farinha de peixe (FP) por farelo de soja (FS) em dietas práticas na sobrevivência e crescimento do camarão-rosa Farfantepenaeus paulensis. Seis dietas isoprotéicas e isoenergéticas, contendo diferentes proporções de FP e FS, foram fornecidas aos camarões durante 28 dias. Os níveis de substituição da FP por FS foram 0 (controle), 12, 24, 36, 48 e 60%. Pós-larvas com peso inicial de 1,22mg (± 0,44) foram distribuídas ao acaso em tanques com 40L de água. The variations in concentrations of these vitamins across three different batches of five brands were measured. Vitamins A and E was determined by HPLC method, and vitamin C was measured by using potentiometric titration. All samples for stability studies were maintained at room temperature and protected from light. The purified toxin was found to be an unstable protein that was susceptible to heat and freeze-thawing. This protein showed to have a molecular size of 46,000 daltons, and its amino acid composition was rich in serine and glycine, but low in basic amino acids. The crude venom induced a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate of rats right after administration.
